This grouped project is titled “Mahogany Plantation in India”, VCS ID 2479, involving multiple small land hold farmers cultivating Mahogany in Agri-silviculture system, with expected coverage of 15,000 hectares in multiple instances across 65 districts in five states Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat and Telangana.
The Project intends to create a stable sustainable income source for farmers who are solely dependent on traditional subsistence driven farming and contributing to multiple SDG Goals through implementation of Project Activity.
Also, PP has successfully issued Verified Carbon Units (VCUs) through First Project Instance involving 315 Farmers, totaling 165.41 hectares across Maharashtra, Karnataka and Telangana.
Carbon Check (India) Private Limited acted as Validation and Verification Body (VVB) for this Project.
It is an excellent technology for scalable carbon removal since it is a very stable, solid form of carbon that can persist in soil for thousands of years.
It has a variety of industrial-scale, commercial applications, such as wastewater treatment, soil regeneration, and greenhouse additives. Pyrolysis is used to create it from biomass or bio waste (heated in the absence of oxygen).
